Safety Guidelines
Golf Safety
We are committed to making “SAFETY FIRST” a priority when it comes to delivering an exceptional golf experience. The facility and instruction areas will be prepared in advance to make sure that a safe learning environment exists. All staff who will interact with students will be trained on safety best practices and on what to do in the event of an emergency. The teaching staff will also continuously remind students of safety practices and the role they play for the enjoyment of an exceptional golf experience for all. Anyone who intentionally violates safety rules will be immediately removed from class or camp activity. Below are some of the suggested safety guidelines we want all students to follow.
At the Practice Facility:
Designated “hitting areas” are placed at least 6 feet apart will be created for students. students will be educated on the importance of remaining in these designated areas unless told otherwise.
- Only one student at a time in the “hitting area,” all others in the safety zone.
- Students should ask an instructor before leaving the mat or “hitting area.”
- When exiting the hitting area into the “safety zone,” students will walk directly back, past the safety line before moving left or right.
- Students will be Instructed to NEVER walk into someone else’s “hitting zone.”
- Students are NEVER allowed to swing a club outside of the “hitting zone” or to move outside the zone to retrieve practice balls or tees.
- Students will keep bag and clubs outside of the “hitting zone, in the safety zone.”
- When an instructor is speaking, students must either lay their club completely on the ground or hold the club in “the safety way” position.
- Students must never swing a club toward anyone nor hit a ball when someone is front of them.
- When the instructor tells everyone to stop hitting, students must obey.
- Anywhere around the short game area, swings must keep the club head below their knees.
On the Golf Course:
- Bags or pull carts must never be placed on the tee box between markers or on the putting surface.
- Students must wait for the group in front of them until they move forward to a safe distance of at least 6 feet away prior to hitting.
- Students are never allowed to stand behind a person who is in address position or appears ready to hit.
- Practice swings are only allowed on the tee box and between the tee markers and should only be done by the person who is about to hit.
- Students must yell, “FORE” if the ball they just hit is moving in the direction towards a person or group of people.
- Students will be taught how to react when they hear the word, “FORE!” Instruct them to quickly clasp their hands together, cover their head and drop down low to the ground. Students will be instructed to NEVER look up to try to see the ball. It could hit them in the face.
- If there is a threat of lightning in the area, students will not hide under tall trees, or stand in open fields. Quickly and safely, instructors will start bringing everyone back to the clubhouse or designated safety area. An action plan will be created in advance for specific safety procedures and how to transport students in from the golf course.
- Students will be instructed to be careful of wildlife, insects and plant life on the golf course and to obey all warning signs.
- Students will be encouraged that if they are not sure about a situation on the golf course or practice facility or are unclear about the safety rules, to ask an instructor or facility co-worker for advice or council.
- Instructors and staff will have parent/guardian phone numbers handy at all times and notify parent/guardian in the event of an emergency that involves their child.
Safe Swinging:
- When students are hitting shots anywhere around the practice greens the club head should always stay below their knees.
- When students are putting, the club head should stay below their shins.
- Students should always look around them to make sure that no-one is too close to them. All other students should be at least 6 steps back from the player hitting.
With these important safety measures in mind, we look forward to seeing your child at the Raising Golfers Golf Academy.
We want everyone to stay safe and we thank you for your continued support in our golf community.
